“Smoking area” – a series of canvases, executed in 2015. All of them are united not only by a common theme, stated in the title of the series, but stylistically, forming a kind of cycle. In addition, the series itself is conceived and the main part of the canvas was painted in the French art-residence “Jardin rouge”, where it was shown to the public. In addition, in 2016, this series was exhibited as part of the Moroccan Biennale.
In “Smoking area” Stepan Krasnov retains an obvious connection with street art: as a background for portraits used graffiti, which already borders on abstraction. Thus, a feeling that the stories peeped in a certain hall of fame, where they accidentally wandered elegantly dressed characters. All the songs are built on an apparent contract expressive, very rich background and restrained and minimalist solutions and the characters are pronounced urban character.
